This is an hourly position and will provide a well set schedule with the opportunity to get additional hours as prep and short-order cook.  You must be an energetic, personable, and highly motivated individual.  You must be able to stand on your feet for up to 8 hours with minimal breaks and handle physical tasks related to restaurant operations and lift up to 50lbs without assistance.  A minimum education level of a High School diploma or equivalent is necessary.  ServSafe Certification is a plus.  Tasks will involve (but are not limited to) dishwasher, food prep to include peel/cook/slice potatoes, prepare sausage patties, dice vegetables, clean, etc.  Qualifications include high school diploma or equivalent, ServSafe Certified, 2+ years of prior restaurant experience with some cooking experience preferred.  General kitchen and food prep knowledge is required.  It will be necessary to work well with others and function well as a team leader with the rest of the staff.  Tom and Joe’s Restaurant has now been serving Altoona for 80 years with a fast paced, dynamic, and energetic diner atmosphere.  Applicants must have good social skills, be comfortable in a kitchen setting, and be able to multi-task in a kitchen setting.  Hourly rate will be set based on skill level and experience.
